RPGMaker Trans 1.99 Fixed... Again

OK, I've updated 1.99 to fix the 'download a new release' problems. Again. If you need the 1.99 version, download it again and it should now work.

However, wierd bugs like this one is basically  the reason that I'm doing the version 2 as a near complete rewrite. The v1.x series are pretty much completely unmaintainable.

Status on 2.0 bugs: Currently being worked on. I'm still unable to reproduce them, but I'm relatively confident that locale issues are at play. I'm currently setting up some VMs to do proper testing etc.

Note: If you have issues with 2.0 at the moment, please let me know. I am planning to kill off the 1.x series as soon as I can, so I really do need to get all bugs etc ironed out.

  1. Unable to patch Violated Heroine, add in the RPG_RT in the game slot but it never recognizes that I selected it

    1. This is on the 2.0 version, yes? I believe I've identified the issue and a fix is (hopefully) on the way.

      In the meantime, try removing all non ASCII characters from the directory name, and if that fails, try putting the VH folder directly on the C drive (or the root of another drive)

  2. many thanks, trying the c drive thing, since i currently have it on desktop.
    also not sure if this helps but, folders inside the main game directory have jpn characters, but the directory to the rpg_rt itself does not contain them.

    1. The plan, such as it is, is to try and get these bugs ironed out first. Support for VX is no good if the patcher just crashes. After these bugs get fixed, I need to finalise the version 3 patch format, and fix a single issue in my current VX support, and then it's good to go.

  4. ok why it dosen't translate VH? after i did the patch it still dosen't translate?

    1. OK a) What version of RPGMaker Trans are you using? b) Any error messages (2.0? or log files (1.99)? c) Checking the obvious, but you are supplying a patch file and running the translated copy of the game rather than the original?

    2. Well i used both RPGMaker Trans 1.99 and 2, no error it gave me only it finish translation and when i enter the game ... nothing still not translated

    3. Well, I'm afraid I can't reproduce the problem. It might be a long-path issue, so try moving everything to a folder on the C drive and try again.

  5. I'm getting this trying to patch ryonarpg using the newest version of 2.0, I also tried using 1.99 and it would get stuck on file copying forever

    1. Looks like a long path issue. Try moving stuff to a folder that's directly on the C drive and try again (as in C:\Something)

      And seriously, a jpg? There's a "copy to clipboard" button which copies the text to clipboard and you can paste it as a bug report. Much easier for everyone.

    3. Ah, crap. That's looks like it's an actual bug (more Windows specific stuff). Workaround should be to delete your translated directory; I'll try to put out a fixed version in the next day or so. Apologies for not spotting it on the first report, but I misread a line number.

  6. Hi Habisain,

    Are VX and VX Ace similar enough in format that your program will work for VX Ace games, or is that going to require even more work? I've been googling around a bit and haven't found any tools for translating VX Ace games, which has me concerned.

    1. As far as I can tell, *when* I finally get VX support going, VX Ace and XP support shouldn't be too far behind. I'm still struggling on this accursed Ruby parsin though...

      The one caveat to this is that I don't yet have a VX Ace decryptor. So whilst support for VX Ace will certainly be pretty quick, support for encrypted VX Ace might take a little longer. Though of course, one could use a decryptor program to decrypt the game so that RPGMaker Trans can handle it, but this causes extra hassle.

    2. Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds promising at least. I guess for now I'll have to shelve any ideas to translate RPGMaker VX Ace games, and MGQ Paradox probably won't be out for quite awhile.
